"Massaging scars helps to restore proper function to the muscles, increases blood circulation to the muscles, promotes better scar healing and prevents adhesions from becoming too tough or dense." ISA HERRERA, Physical Therapist "Ending Female Pain: A Womans Manual"

The opaque chicken skin looking stretched tissue in this picture is scar tissue or adhesions. This tissue is easily broken away from other tissues or stretched using massage so it will not inhibit abdominal organ function. This is a surgery picture of adhesions or scar tissue built up in the abdomen either after surgery trauma, accident trauma or hormonal imbalance trauma. Adhesions can obstruct the bowel or reproductive organs by pulling them and fixing them to other tissues or wrapping around them and blocking function of the bowel, fallopian tubes or ovaries for example.
