Mercier Therapy Pelvic Massage for Fertility

In a nutshell MT for is great a great pre-conception massage because it increases blood flow to the reproductive organs, can help balance hormones related to conception, it can help position the reproductive organs optimally in the pelvis for conceptionl and can help prepare the pelvic area for carrying your baby to term and birthing vaginally.

“Pelvic massage is a scientifically supported physical therapy designed to treat female infertility and pain, and has been shown in peer-reviewed medical studies to improve natural fertility, increase IVF pregnancy rates, decrease intercourse pain, and improve sexual function (Dr. Mercier).”

"I used Mercier Therapy pelvic massage and herbal products along with lifestyle & diet changes as well as bio identical hormone supplementation and concieved after only three months. We had been trying to concieve for about three years trying life style & diet changes and nutritional and herbal supplements, but obviously Mercier Therapy was the right combination for us!" - Erin Geyer-Gilman, MA, LMT

For women who have adhesions in their reproductive tract adhesions can act like cement binding and fixing tissues, disrupting the function of affected organs. Mercier Therapy massage involves gentle muscle stretching to loosen soft tissue and by following the recommended twelve treatment protocol the tension should be throughly released.

“The goal of Mercier Therapy is to decrease adhesions in and around the organs, ligaments, muscles, joints and support structures of the pelvis, abdomen, hips and lower back. Mercier Therapy is gentle and noninvasive and has a success rate of 71% (IVF's success rate is as low as 20%) (Dr. Mercier).”

“Retraining pelvic organs to return to their normal status and function is the common sense approach to increasing your chance of conceiving and improving your health at the same time (Dr. Mercier).”

Fertility & In Vitro Fertilization Facts
Infertility plagues approximately 9 million women. One in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle costs between $12,000 and $15,000, with no guarantee that you will get pregnant. For those who choose to take the chance with in vitro fertilization (IVF), they will have 1 or more failed attempts and could possibly alter or shut down their reproductive health forever. If there are safer options for increased fertility shouldn’t we try those first?

I believe you have an alternative choice to IVF?
A recent study released from a Florida clinic has shown that pelvic massage has a pregnancy rate of 71% as a natural, stand alone therapy and has a rate of 67% as a therapy prior to in vitro fertilization.

Balancing Your Hormones Naturally

Progesterone plays a crucial role in preparing the uterus to conceive and sustain the fertilized egg or ovum. If pregnancy occurs progesterone levels increase. Without sufficient progesterone the uterine lining will not be adequately prepared for implantation of the ovum even if there is adequate estrogen. Rarely do most physicians check their patient’s progesterone levels. Saliva testing if the most effective in illuminating progesterone levels. Ask your Dr. If putting you on sub lingual or human - identical progesterone cream before or after implantation would be beneficial. Synthetic hormones are not an exact fit for the human body’s hormone receptor sites where as human identical hormones have a molecular structure that exactly matches the molecular structure of the hormones produced by the female body. The body can automatically recognize and utilize human identical hormones[i].

It is well documented that ART increases risk of multiple gestations, preterm delivery, low birth weight babies, chromosome abnormalities, adverse neuro-developmental disorders, birth defects, eclampsia, prenatal mortality, placenta previa, and increased rate of C section delivery. 24.8% of ART cycles end in a live birth, the most successful are with fresh as opposed to frozen embryos 29% end in live births with a donor egg. Tubal problems can be treated with deep tissue massage (Mercier Therapy) with a 75% success rate of reversal of fallopian tube occlusion, 70% infertility reversal in women physician diagnosed infertile and significant improvement in IVF results when performed prior to transfer. 40 % of female infertility is associated with scaring and adhesions in the pelvic region. The tubes can represent on emotional levels unhealed childhood “inner child” energy. Emotional Factors in conceiving:  Dr. Lewis author of The Infertility Curewww.thefertilesoul.com Niravi Payne The Whole Person Fertility Program www.niravi.com High glycemic diets have been recognized as a factor in infertility. A woman at the age of 57 is the oldest recorded in the US & a 62 y/o woman in Scotland to conceive spontaneously. In 2003 100,000 births were to women 40-44, so examine your beliefs about your biological clock and age. [ii]

According to Our Bodies Ourselves: The Boston Women’s Health Book Collective only about 10 to 15% of women undergoing IVF reach full placental function of an implanted egg. ART accounts for only 1% of live births in the US each year. Risks to mom with IVF: infection, needle injuries, adverse reactions to anesthesia, reduce uterine receptivity due to thinning of the endometrium, ectopic pregnancies occur in 4 % of pregnancies, miscarriage rates are 20 -24%. Risks to babies: multiple gestations create long term risks to the babies and that occurs in over half of IVF pregnancies, higher risk of birth defects ,cancer, genetic diseases in ART babies.

Options with IVF:

ICSI Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (injecting the sperm into the egg) higher than expected rate of health problems and genetic abnormalities in these children especially cystic fibrosis.

Micromanipulation or Zona Drilling making an opening in the egg with a glass needle or laser so that the sperm doesn’t have to break it on its own. This seems unnecessary since the strong sperm are already separated from the weak and abnormal sperm in the centrifuge and should be able to penetrate the egg. This procedure has been associated with hearing abnormalities in babies.

Pergonal Clomid is used to make ovaries produce more eggs.

Clinical Pregnancy Rate- is defined as the occurrence of at least one ultrasound confirmed gestational sac within the uterus at 7 weeks of pregnancy. The clinical rate is associated with only those cycles having embryo transfer. This is not telling us that the baby grew to term.

Implantation Pregnancy Rates- is defined as the percent of embryos that implant in relation to the total number of embryos transferred. This is not telling us that the baby grew to term only that the embryo implanted into the uterine lining.
